— Marines are known for always being ready for any obstacle that may come their way. Historically, Marines have fought up mountains, through jungles, and across deserts. Nowadays combat is few and far between; however, Marines continue to train in austere terrain to keep their skills sharp and to continue bettering their techniques.

Fuel to Fight | Food service specialist keep Marines ready for action

— As service members step into the Camp Kinser mess hall, the smell of hot food, the sight of people eating and the sound of kitchen utensils clanging against hot metal greet them. To the patrons, this is dinnertime, to Marines assigned to Food Service Company, Headquarters Regiment, 3rd MLG, this is the busiest part of their workday.

Keeping the Corps Semper Fit

— The sun has barely peeked over the horizon but the Marine noncommissioned officers in the Force Fitness Instructor course at Camp Hansen are already on the move. They’ve gathered at the running track to do their daily morning workout. After receiving a quick brief on the circuit workout, the NCOs lead their groups of Marines to their first exercises. The frogs and cicadas singing in the distance are quickly drowned out by shouts of motivation.

A Chilean Marine’s experience at RIMPAC

— POHAKULOA TRAINING AREA, Hawaii -- Chilean Marine Cpl. German Letelier exited the rear of a U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter onto a field of tall grass and found a secure position as quickly as possible. Exiting with him were Marines from the Philippines and the United States; Letelier was the sole representative from the Chilean Marine Corps.

3-D printer-capable Marines with 31st MEU print replacement part for F-35B

— Marines with Combat Logistic Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, are now capable of ‘additive manufacturing,’ also known as 3-D printing. This innovative technique is the process of replicating a digital 3-D model in the real world. 3-D printing software breaks the digital model down into layers which can be reproduced by the printer. The printer then builds the model from the ground up, layer by layer, creating a tangible object.

— MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP FOSTER, OKINAWA, Japan – Chief Petty Officer Ophael J. Myrtil, a 17-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. As an infant, Myrtil’s life took a devastating turn when he lost 24 family members, including his mother and brother, in a motor vehicle accident.

— Cpl. Lexus Martinez walks through the Camp Kinser Mess Hall with gusto that would make the casual observer think, “She owns the building.” The Brooklyn native makes eye contact with everyone in her path, greeting them confidently as she prepares to make the food that will be served for the day.
