FIRST SERGEANT DAMIAN B. SINANON

 

1stSgt Sinanon was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica.  He joined the Marine Corps on July 12th, 1999 and attended recruit training at MCRD, Parris Island, South Carolina where he graduated October of 1999, as a Private.  After completing MCT at Camp Geiger, North Carolina, he was assigned to Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Lee, Virginia from November 1999 to January 2000 as a Basic Bulk Fuel Specialist Student.  In February 2000, PFC Sinanon reported for duty to 8th ESB, 2D MLG, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina as a Bulk Fuel Specialist.  He was promoted to LCpl on September 1st, 2000.  LCpl Sinanon was attached to MSSG-26, 26th MEU (SOC) from January 2001 until April 2002. He was meritoriously promoted to Corporal on June 2nd, 2001.  While deployed on board the USS Shreveport with the 26th MEU (SOC), he attended the Corporal’s Leadership Course where he graduated as the Honor Graduate.  He participated in Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Swift Freedom.         

 

In October 2002, he was assigned to HQ&HQ SQDN, MCAS New River for duty as a Team Leader with Station Fuels. He was promoted to Sergeant in November 2002.  Sgt Sinanon attended the Bulk Fuel Laboratory Course in fort Lee, Virginia where he was the Honor Graduate.  He then attended the Sergeant’s Leadership Course in Camp Geiger, NC.

 

In March 2004, Sgt Sinanon reported to 9th ESB, 3D MLG, for duty as a Bulk Fuel Specialist.  While assigned to 9th ESB, Sgt Sinanon held the billets of Bulk Fuel Company Safety and Hazmat NCO, Platoon Sergeant, Operations Chief, and Battalion Administrative Chief.

 

In April 2005, Sgt Sinanon was again assigned to 8th ESB, 2D MLG, Camp Lejeune, NC and served as Platoon Sergeant with Bulk Fuel Company.  He was temporarily assigned to HQ&HQ SQDN, MCAS New River for duty as the Mobile Fuels Division NCOIC.  He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in January 2007.  SSgt Sinanon returned to Bulk Fuel Company, 8th ESB in February 2007 and served as H&HS Company Gunnery Sergeant until May 2007.  He was then assigned to II MEF HQ Group, Camp Lejeune NC, where he deployed to Iraq as the Logistics Chief for Police Transition Team 20A (PTT-20A) from July 2007, until April 2008.

 

SSgt Sinanon reported for duty as a student at the Basic Recruiter School, San Diego, CA in September 2008.  He graduated the Basic Recruiter School with Honors and was then assigned to Recruiting Station Baton Rouge, 6MCD for duty as a Canvassing Recruiter.  He served as a Production Recruiter with Recruiting Sub-Station (RSS) New Orleans from February 2009 until September 2009. In October 2009, he was assigned as the Detachment SNCOIC for RSS New Orleans.  He was meritoriously promoted to Gunnery Sergeant on July 2nd, 2011 and continued to serve in that capacity until April 2012.

 

In June 2012, GySgt Sinanon reported for duty with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3d Marine Logistics Group.  While assigned to 9th ESB, he served as the Company 1stSgt for Bulk Fuel Company and Combat Logistics Detachment 39 until February 2014.  He then executed orders to the Okinawa Staff Non-Commissioned Officer academy where he served as a Faculty Advisor for the Advance Course from July 2014, until January 2015.  He was selected for promotion to the rank of 1stSgt and was frocked on January 22nd, 2015.  1stSgt Sinanon is currently assigned to 7th Communication Battalion, III MHG, where he is serving as the company 1stSgt for Service Company.

 

His personal decorations include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.

1stSgt Sinanon and his wife, Tanisha, have two children; (son) David (12), and (daughter) Toriel (4).
