U.S. Marine Corps AV-8 Harrier pilot ejected safely

A U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier pilot ejected safely from his aircraft today at approximately 2:00 p.m. off the coast of Okinawa.

The pilot was rescued successfully by the 33rd Rescue Squadron, 18th Wing, U.S. Air Force out of Kadena Airbase.

The aircraft appears to have crashed in the ocean 100 nautical miles east of Okinawa.

The aircraft was assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Okinawa, Japan.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

【在沖海兵隊 バトラー基地】AV-8ハリアーのパイロットは本日午後 2時頃、沖 縄の沖合いで 航空機から 無事に脱出しまた。
パイロットは 嘉手納空軍基地 の第 18航空団第 33救難飛行隊により出されました。航 空機は沖縄の東およそ 100海里沖合いで墜落したと見られてます。
同航空機は、沖縄の第 31海兵遠征部隊の所属で、事故原因は現在調査中す。
