Lieutenant Colonel Allan chiu

LtCol Chiu is from Maryland and graduated cum laude from Yale University with distinction in major (B.A. in Ethics, Politics, and Economics).  He attended Platoon Leaders Class Combined and was commissioned in 2002. 

LtCol Chiu is a Ground Intelligence Officer, MAGTF Intelligence Officer, MAGTF Planner, and China Foreign Area Officer.  His assignments include:

2003 – 2006.  Battalion S-2, 1st Battalion 12th Marines, Kaneohe, Hawaii

2006 – 2009.  Company Commander and Battalion S-3, 1st Radio Battalion, San Diego, California

2009 – 2012.  Staff Officer, Marine Corps Intelligence Activity, Quantico, Virginia

2012 – 2015.  Assistant Marine Attaché, U.S. Embassy Beijing, China

2015 – 2016.  Student, USMC School of Advanced Warfighting, Quantico, Virginia

2016 – 2019.  G-3 Plans, 3d Marine Logistics Group, Okinawa, Japan

2019 – 2021.  G-2 Operations Officer and Assistant Chief of Staff G-2, MARFOREUR/AF, Stuttgart, Germany.

2021 – Present: Commanding Officer, 3d Intelligence Battalion, Okinawa, Japan

His combat deployments include serving as the operations/intelligence advisor on a Border Transition Team in Iraq from 2005 - 2006, and serving as the assistant battalion operations officer for 1st Radio Battalion in Fallujah, Iraq in 2007. 

LtCol Chiu is a graduate of Infantry Officers Course, Scout Sniper Employment Course, Ground Intelligence Officer Course, MAGTF Intelligence Officer Course, Army Airborne School, USMC Expeditionary Warfare School (distant), USMC Command and Staff College (distant), and USMC School of Advanced Warfighting.  He holds a Master’s Degree in Operational Studies, and speaks Mandarin Chinese. 

LtCol Chiu is married to Helen Williamson and has three children: William, Annabelle, and Theodore.
