Lieutenant Colonel Bryce W. Carter , USMC
Commanding Officer of 3d Law Enforcement Battalion
LtCol Carter was born on 15 November 1979 in Tulsa, OK. He went to Officer Candidate School in June of 2001 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps in May 2002 after completion of his undergraduate education in Criminal Justice at Mid America Nazarene University in Olathe, KS.
Following The Basic School and Military Police Officer Basic, he was assigned to Marine Corps Bases Japan Provost Marshals Office in September 2004. During this tour, Captain Carter served as the MCAS Futemna District OIC. Three months into his assignment he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq to serve as the Joint Task Force-134 Detention Operations Officer, the Personal Security Detail OIC, and Camp Bucca Intelligence Officer.
In November of 2005, Captain Carter was transferred to MWSS-373 located at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA, where he served as the MP Detachment OIC. During this tour, Captain Carter was assigned temporary orders to I MEF G-10 as the Special Police Transition Team 2/6 Operations Officer. He deployed with his Transition Team in February 2006 for a one year assignment to Baghdad, Iraq.
Captain Carter reported to the 15th MEU in June 2007 to become the Anti Terrorism Force Protection Officer. In addition to his primary duties during WESTPAC 08-02, he functioned as the operations planner for exercise Eager Mace in Kuwait and exercise Infinite Moonlight in Jordan. He also undertook the responsibility of Personal Security Officer for the MEU Commander. During WESTPAC 10-1, Captain Carter was the lead planner for exercise Eager Mace and he was selected to serve as the 15th MEU 5th Fleet Liaison Officer in Bahrain.
In February 2011, Capt Carter was assigned to Recruit Depot San Diego where he served as Lead Series Commander in F Co, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion and Operations Officer 2nd Recruit Training Battalion until his selection to Major at which point he was assigned as G3 Operations Officer, MCRD SD.
In August 2012, Captain Carter reported to 3D Law Enforcement Battalion and assumed Command of H&S Co. In July of 2013, Major Carter assumed the duties as the Operations Officer of 3D LE Bn. In July of 2014, he became the Executive Officer of 3D LE Bn.
In June 2016, he graduated from the Army Command and General Staff College earning his Master’s degree in Military Studies with a focus in Defense Support to Civil Authorities. Following school, he served as the Director, U.S. Marine Corps Military Police School and Commander, Military Police Instruction Company, Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
In June 2018, he was assigned as the Provost Marshal, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton where he currently serves. During the Summer of 2018, he attended and graduated from the FBI National Academy session 273.
LtCol Carter’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal w/ two gold stars, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ ‘V’ Device and two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
LtCol Carter wed Christina Innamorato of Philadelphia, PA on May 28th, 2011. They have two children: Poppy and Ronan.
