Major Scott E. Danielson

                 7th Communication Battalion Executive Officer


Major Danielson, a native of Tampa, Florida, graduated from Florida State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology and Social Science. Following graduation he enlisted in the Marine Corps and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC. Upon completion of recruit training and initial MOS training Major Danielson was assigned to H & HS Sq MCAS Miramar, CA for duty as an Air Traffic Controller. In December 1999 Major Danielson was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the Enlisted Commissioning Program and reported to The Basic School (TBS), Quantico, Virginia in January 2000.

Upon graduating from TBS in July 2000, Major Danielson was designated an 0802 Field Artillery Officer and reported to Field Artillery Officer’s Basic Course Ft. Sill, OK. Following graduation in December 2000 he reported for duty with 1st Battalion 11th Marines serving as a Forward Observer, Assistant Executive Officer/Guns Platoon Commander, and Battery Liaison Officer. Major Danielson completed his tour with 1st Battalion as the Battalion S-3A/Fire Direction Officer. During this tour he completed two Western Pacific deployments with BLT 3/1, 11th MEU and BLT 1/1, 13th MEU, participating in Operation Sweeney in the Al Faw Peninsula, Iraq. Upon selection to Captain, he received orders to Marine Corps’ Communications Information Systems Officer’s Course in Quantico, Virginia. He graduated in December 2004 and received orders to report to 2nd Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO) Camp Lejuene, N.C

As the S-6 for 2nd ANGLICO he completed two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom throughout Al Anbar Province. In June 2007 Major Danielson received orders to report to United States Joint Forces Command for duty with the Director J-6 as the Operations and Readiness Division Signal Global Force Provider. In January 2009 Major Danielson deployed to the NATO Special Operations Forces Coordination Centre in Mons, Belgium as the JFCOM Detachment Team Leader. During this deployment Major Danielson deployed to ISAF SOF Hq, Kabul, Afghanistan.

Major Danielson received orders to report to Headquarters United States Second Fleet in September 2009 as the Marine Amphibious Communications Officer. In March 2010 he deployed to Haiti in support of Operation Unified Response. In August of 2011 Maj Danielson reported to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18 as the Operations Officer. In June 2012 Maj Danielson received orders to report to 7th Communication Battalion to assume the duties as Alpha Company Commander. In May 2013 he relinquished Command and assumed his current duties as the 7th Communication Battalion Executive Officer. He is a graduate of the Advanced Communications Officer Course and holds a Master of Science in Management from the University of Maryland University College.

Major Danielson’s decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal (w/ oak leaf cluster), Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Major Danielson is married and has two sons.
