Alpha Company First Sergeant
First Sergeant Adan F. Moreno was born in Beeville, Texas. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 1993, and attended recruit training at 1st Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California in June 1994.
In November 1994, after completing Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting school at NAS Millington, Tennessee, Private First Class Moreno reported to Headquarters and Headquarters Station, MCAS Camp Pendleton, California for duty as an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Specialist. Private First Class Moreno was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal in March 1995.
Lance Corporal Moreno was transferred to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan in July 1996. While assigned to MWSS-171 Lance Corporal Moreno participated in many exercises in the Pacific theater. Lance Corporal Moreno was promoted to Corporal in February 1997.
In July 1997, Corporal Moreno reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 373 at MCAS El Toro, California for duty as an Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Specialist. While assigned to MWSS-373, Corporal Moreno deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch. Corporal Moreno was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in May 1998.
In December 1999, Sergeant Moreno reported to Recruiters school at MCRD San Diego, California. Upon completion of recruiters school Sgt Moreno reported to RS Lansing, Michigan and was subsequently assigned to PCS Alpena as a canvassing recruiter. Sgt Moreno was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in October 2001.
In January 2003, Staff Sergeant Moreno reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 372 at Camp Pendleton, CA. for duty as Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Section Leader. Staff Sergeant Moreno deployed twice with MWSS-372 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In May 2006, Staff Sergeant Moreno was assigned to Marine Corps Detachment Goodfellow, AFB in San Angelo, Texas for Instructor duty. Staff Sergeant Moreno was assigned to the Department of Defense Fire Academy where he taught students from all services in fundamentals on Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting and Structural Fire Fighting. Staff Sergeant Moreno was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in November 2006. Gunnery Sergeant Moreno was reassigned as the Detachment Gunnery Sergeant until his PCS in June 2009.
In July of 2009, Gunnery Sergeant Moreno once again reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan for duty as an Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Section Leader. While assigned to MWSS-171 Gunnery Sergeant Moreno deployed in support of numerous exercises in the Pacific theater. Gunnery Sergeant Moreno was reassigned as the Airfield Operations Company First Sergeant. Gunnery Sergeant Moreno was promoted to his present rank of First Sergeant in February 2011.
First Sergeant Moreno joined the 7th Communication Battalion during March 2011 and is currently serving as the Company First Sergeant for Bravo Company.
First Sergeant Morenos' personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/ (1) gold stars and (1) Combat V, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
