3d Radio Battalion Commanding Officer
Lieutenant Colonel Nathan S. Krick, originally from Whitney Point, NY, enlisted in the Marine Corps at RSS Cortland, NY in early 1992.
After completing recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, and Marine Combat Training, he transferred to MOS School to become an Air Traffic Controller.
Upon receiving his ATC certification, Lt Col Krick reported to MCAF Quantico where he served in both tower and radar control billets supporting Marine Helicopter Squadron (HMX-1).
Lt Col Krick was selected for the MECEP in 1995. He graduated from The Citadel, Charleston, SC, with a Bachelor's Degree in International Politics and received his commission in spring 1998. After completing The Basic School, Lt Col Krick attended the NMITC and earned the designation as an Aviation Intelligence Officer; MOS 0207.
In the summer of 1999, Lt Col Krick reported to MCAS Cherry Point as the Assistant Intelligence Officer at MAG14. In mid-2000, after a brief deployment with 2d MAW Air Combat Intelligence, Lt Col Krick transferred to VMAQ-2 where he served as the squadron Intelligence Officer. While at VMAQ-2, Lt Col Krick participated in two unit deployments to MCAS Iwakuni.
Upon returning from Japan, Lt Col Krick executed orders to Expeditionary Warfare School. He departed the course in early 2003 when selected as an individual augment to I MEF for Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Assigned to 3d MAW, he worked as the TACC Target Intelligence Officer. After his return from OIF, Lt Col Krick completed the MIOC and earned the designation as a MAGTF Intelligence Officer; MOS 0202.
In mid 2003, Lt Col Krick reported to 2d Intel Battalion where he served in a variety of leadership and intelligence support billets both in garrison and while twice deployed to Ramadi and Fallujah, Iraq.
In mid 2006, Lt Col Krick received orders to NMITC, where he served as an Instructor and Curriculum Administrator for the MIOC as well as the Course Director and Curriculum Developer for the MIACC; the All Source Intelligence Warrant Officer training course.
From 2009 to 2010, Lt Col Krick attended the Naval War College. While there, he received a Master's Degree in National Security Studies from the Naval Command and Staff Course and a certificate of completion for Joint Professional Military Education Level 2.
In June 2010, Lt Col Krick reported to 2d MARDIV. From February 2011-April 2012, he deployed to Afghanistan, where he coordinated intelligence collection, analysis, production, and target intelligence efforts in support of combat operations conducted as part of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
Shortly after returning from OEF, Lt Col Krick transferred to 2d Radio Battalion, where he served as the Ops O from mid 2012 to mid 2013.
In 2013, Lt Col Krick executed orders to MCSB, Fort Meade and served as the Battalion XO.
In June 2014, Lt Col Krick executed orders to Company L, MCSB as the Commanding Officer
In June 2015, Lt Col Krick assumed his present assignment as the CO, 3d Radio Battalion, IIIMEF.
Lt Col Kricks decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal; the Meritorious Service Medal with 1 Gold Star; the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 Gold Stars; and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 Gold Stars.
Lt Col Kricks professions awards include: the 2005 NMIA Colonel Donald G. Cook Intelligence Officer of the Year Award; and the 2008 MCIA, Inc. Lieutenant Colonel Michael Kuzenski Intelligence Instructor of the Year Award.
