Capt. Brian Mead, the exercise air officer with 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, III MEF, coordinates over the radio to an F/A-18 pilot, during a joint Navy and Marine Corps exercise March 1-4. Mead is a qualified joint terminal attack controller and is required to complete six controls of fire every six months.

Three Marines with 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, III MEF, based on Camp Hansen, practice close quarters battle and room clearing techniques at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif. Marines with 5th ANGLICO were at Fort Irwin from March 27-April 4 for pre-deployment training prior to deploying to Afghanistan.

MISSION

To provide the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Commander a liaison capability and to plan, coordinate, employ, and conduct terminal control of fires in support of joint, allied, and coalition forces.
