Alpha Company Commander
Captain Brian Burger grew up in Apple Valley, MN and enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 1994. Upon graduation form Boot Camp and Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA he reported to Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools aboard Camp Johnson, NC for training.
In April 1995, PFC Burger reported for duty to HMH-466, MAG-16, 3d MAW, MCAS Tustin, CA as a Personnel Clerk (0121). PFC Burger was attached to VMM-163, 13th MEU (SOC) from Nov 1995 until Oct 1996. While afloat he participated in Operation Southern Watch and Operation Desert Strike
In January 1997, LCpl Burger was assigned to VMFA-314, MAG-11, MCAS Miramar, CA for duty. He was promoted to Corporal in April 1997. During this assignment VMFA-314 attached to Carrier Air Wing 9 for a six month deployment aboard the USS Nimitz. While afloat he participated in Operation Southern Watch.
In September 1998, Cpl Burger transitioned to the Selective Marine Corps Reserve and was assigned to 4th Medical Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group. In August 1999, he augmented into the Active Reserve Program of the Marine Corps and was assigned to MAG-46, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing. Upon assignment into the Active Reserve Program, he was reassigned to MOS of 4066, Small Computer Specialist. In April 2000, he reported to Marine Corps Communications Electronics School in Twentynine Palms, CA, to complete formal MOS training.
In August 2002, Sgt Burger reported to 4th Tank Bn, 4th Marine Division, for duty as the Data Chief.
In January 2006, he again reported to Marine Corps Communications Electronics School in Twentynine Palms, CA, to complete Data Chiefs Course. Upon completion of the course SSgt Burger reported to Marine Corps Recruiting Command in Quantico, VA for duty as the Statistics Chief in May of 2006.
In August 2008 SSgt Burger was accepted into the Enlisted Commissioning Program. SSgt Burger attended Officer Candidate School receiving commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in 2008. Following The Basic School and specialty school, he was designated a Communications Officer. He attended Basic Communications Officers Course in 2009 and reported to Communications Company, 2d Marine Logistics Group (MLG) at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune where he served as the Wire/Switching platoon commander.
In 2011, 1stLt Burger attached to the 2d MLG G-6 and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While attached to the G-6 he served as the Communications Platoon Commander, SYSCON Watch Officer and Assistant Operations Officer. At the completion of the deployment he returned to Communications Company, 2d MLG and served as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer.
In 2013, Capt Burger reported to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing G-6 for duty as the Operations Officer. In May 2015, he assumed command of Alpha Company.
His personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal with Gold Star and the Navy Achievement Medal with Gold Star.
