Draining three-pointers, playing tough defense and going to the rim are all things Senior Airman Milton Carrell of the 319th Operations Support Squadron here can do. Only he doesn't always do them on a regular basketball court.

Airman Carrell was selected as a finalist in the NBA Live: Bring It Home video game competition sponsored by ESPN.

"(The producers) saw my scores online and asked if I'd like to do the game," said the native of Baton Rouge, La. "I've been playing this type of game for over 10 years, so I was ready."

The competition began in Dallas and after a few rounds of the game, Airman Carrell otherwise known as Q when competing in online video games, came out top to be a "home court" winner. The next phase was to bring his opponent, Scott Price from Oakland, Calif., to Grand Forks to play at a local sports bar.

As the home team, Q had the advantage to play in his town, at a location of his choice with his fans.

"My friends thought it made sense for me to do the competition," he said. "I play the game all the time so I'd have a pretty good chance."

The scene Oct. 3 at the sports bar was one straight out of Hollywood. Cameras, lights, microphones and film crew were scattered throughout the building. All the focus was on Q.

"It doesn't bother me to have all that stuff going on. I just stayed focused and tried to keep the game close," he said.

"Overall this was a great experience. I got to meet a lot of really cool people," he said. "I love it."

Tune in to see how Q does in November on ESPN.
