Resolute Dragon 24 Concludes 

III Marine Expeditionary Force and Japan’s Western Army concluded exercise Resolute Dragon 24 with a closing ceremony held at Camp Courtney August 7, 2024, on Okinawa, Japan. Resolute Dragon 24 took place across Japan from July 28 – August 7, 2024, to include exercise locations in Chugoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa prefecture. 

Resolute Dragon 24 Begins

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP S. D. BUTLER, Okinawa, Japan - III Marine Expeditionary Force began Exercise Resolute Dragon 24 with an opening ceremony held at Camp Kengun July 28, 2024. RD 24 will take place across Japan from July 28 – August 7, 2024, to include Chugoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa prefectures.

U.S. Marines Boost Enforcement Measures in Okinawa

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BUTLER – Okinawa, Japan - Marines from III Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Corps Installations Pacific continue to implement enhanced Courtesy Patrols and vehicle checkpoints, to reinforce safety and security off-base. This heightened presence aims to ensure service members' adherence to high standards of conduct both on and off base.

ROK Marine Division Commanding General Visits III MEF

Maj. Gen. Ju Ik-Suk, the commanding general of the Republic of Korea 1st Marine Division, visited III Marine Expeditionary Force from July 1-3, 2024.

III Marine Expeditionary Force Welcomes Amphibious Combat Vehicles to Okinawa

III Marine Expeditionary Force received a shipment of Amphibious Combat Vehicles (ACVs) at Naha Military Port on June 29, 2024. The ACV is an eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier, designed to fully upgrade the Marine Corps’ fleet of Assault Amphibious Vehicles (AAV). 第三海兵遠征軍は2024年6月29日、那覇軍港で水陸両用戦闘車（ACV）を受け取りました。水陸両用戦闘車は8輪装甲兵員輸送車であり、海兵隊の水陸両用強襲輸送車（AAV）を全面的に改良するよう設計されています。

Exercise Resolute Dragon 24

III Marine Expeditionary Force, alongside the Japan Self-Defense Force and U.S. Joint Force, will participate in Exercise Resolute Dragon 24 in Japan from July 28 – August 7, 2024.

U.S. Senior Director for East Asia and Oceania Visits Okinawa

Mira Rapp-Hooper, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for East Asia and Oceania at the National Security Council, visited the III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF) Headquarters, June 12, 2024. Ms. Rapp-Hooper is the top advisor responsible for coordinating U.S. government policy towards the Indo Pacific-Region.

U.S. Joint Force and JSDF Bolster Alliance at Okinawa Security Conference

Senior military leaders from the Japan Self-Defense Force and U.S. military convened in Okinawa, Japan, for the annual Bilateral Commanders Conference, hosted by III Marine Expeditionary Force.

U.S. and Republic of Korea Marines Strengthen Bonds During Annual Exercise Series

Over 3,000 U.S Marines from across III Marine Expeditionary Force, and 1st Marine Division, I MEF, completed exercises Freedom Shield 24 and Warrior Shield 24 demonstrating the U.S and ROK Marine Corps’ ability to integrate and operate in support of the alliance.
