Washington -- Instead of the typical office holiday party, people in the Pentagon's Office of the Air Force Reserve gathered to celebrate the season and build care packages for Wounded Warriors.
"We wanted to do something special for those who have given so much for our freedom," said Maj. Dee Ketterer, chief of the Reserve Mobility Programming and leader of the holiday party team. "We had almost 200 people in attendance, including Wounded Warriors from DeWitt Army Hospital at Fort Belvoir, Va."
The group built 50 care packages that were given to the Wounded Warriors in attendance and also hand-delivered to Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed Hospital on Dec. 7.
The package included gift cards from major businesses, CDs, DVDs, blankets, winter caps and lip balm. Each package was wrapped in a handmade pillow case and included a message from the Air Force Reserve family.
