SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- With a major inspection looming, the 916th Air Refueling Wing wasn't going to lose sight of what is really important...thanking our families for their amazing support. Family Day 2010 was held on Sunday, Sept 12 and more than 600 people gathered on-base to celebrate.
Food and festivities occupied a sunny afternoon with face-painting, a security forces display, water slides and a little friendly competition. New to the agenda this year was a commander's tricycle race and a group ultimate frisbee challenge.
The operations group seemed to come out on top of the competitive events with Col. Caroline Evernham taking the lead in the tricycle race and Ops winning the title of Ultimate Frisbee Champion over the 916th Wing Staff and Medical Flight.
The weekend also offered spouse's a chance to see an air-to-air refueling at 20,000 feet and receive information about pre and post deployments from the Yellow Ribbon committee.
