Sergeant Major, 5th ANGLICO
Sergeant Major Emanuel A. Hudson

Sergeant Major Hudson is a native of Bronx, NY. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on August 20, 2001 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC. He graduated boot camp in November 2001 and attended Marine Combat Training in Jacksonville, NC, in December 2001. Upon completion, Private Hudson attended MOS school at Naval Justice School Newport Rhode Island becoming a Legal Services Specialist and where he was promoted to the rank of Private First Class.

In April 2002, he was assigned to 3D Force Service Support Group, Legal Services Support Section in Okinawa, Japan, serving as an Administrative Clerk. During this tour, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. In 2003, he transitioned to Marine Air Training Support Group-21, Pensacola, FL, Legal Section. He served as a legal services advisor for Aviation Maintenance Squadron-2 and Assistant Legal Chief for MATSG-21. He was promoted up to the rank of Sergeant during this period. In 2005, Sergeant Hudson conducted a lateral move staying in the legal community to become a court reporter. He transitioned to Marine Forces Command, Norfolk, VA, to attend court reporting school at the Virginia School of Technology in Virginia Beach, VA.

In October 2007, upon completion of court reporting school, Sergeant Hudson received orders to the Legal Services Support Center, Parris Island, SC, to serve as a court reporter. After two years, Sergeant Hudson received orders for Drill Instructor School where he attended and graduated in October 2009. He was assigned to First Recruit Training Battalion, Bravo Company and served in the billets of Drill Instructor, Experience Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Company Operations Chief. During this tour he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In 2012, Staff Sergeant Hudson completed drill instructor duty and received orders to Headquarters and Service Battalion, Legal Services Support Team, Kaneohe Bay, HI. He served in multiple billets including Administrative Law/Support SNCOIC, Trial Services Office SNCOIC, and the MARFORPAC SJA Legal Chief. During this period, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. In August of 2015 he received orders to attend school for the Marine Security Guard Program to become a Detachment Commander.

In September 2015, he completed Marine Security Guard school and was selected to serve as the Detachment Commander for Detachment Frankfurt at U.S Consulate Frankfurt, Germany. In 2017, he then transitioned to his second duty assignment serving as Detachment Commander to Detachment Dar Es Salaam at U.S. Embassy Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. In 2018, he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant and received orders to 3D Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Alpha and Headquarters and Service Company. In April 2021, First Sergeant Hudson received orders to Marine Corps Air Facility Quantico where he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader and where he was frocked to his current rank of Sergeant Major in November 2021.

In July 2022, Sergeant Major Hudson received orders to 1st MAW, Marine Air Control Group-18, Marine Air Support Squadron-2, where he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for the squadron. In April 2024, Sergeant Major Hudson received orders to 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company where he currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 gold stars) and the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 gold stars).

Sergeant Major Hudson has two college degrees from Excelsior College - a Bachelor of Science in Military Studies and an Associate in Science.
