Commanding Officer, III Marine Expeditionary Force Support Battalion
Lieutenant Colonel Michael E. Gangemella

LtCol Gangemella was born in Wilmington, DE on September 21, 1985.  He was accepted to Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in history.  Upon his graduation in May 2005, LtCol Gangemella moved back to New Castle, DE until the time of his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps in October 2006.  He graduated Officer Candidate Course in December 2006 and was immediately commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.  After commissioning he attended the Officer Basic School and graduated in October 2007 with an assigned specialty as a Logistics Officer.  He attended the Logistics Officer Course in Jacksonville, NC and graduated in March 2008.

After graduation from the Logistics Officer Course, LtCol Gangemella was assigned to Headquarters Company, 7th Marine Regiment at Twenty-nine Palms, CA where he served as the Motor Transportation Officer from March 2008 until April 2011.  During his time at 7th Marine Regiment he was promoted to First Lieutenant (January 2009) and then Captain (January 2011).  Additionally, from October 2009 to October 2010 he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Upon his return from Afghanistan, he received orders to 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company at Okinawa, Japan to serve as the unit's Logistics Officer.  LtCol Gangemella served in this billet from April 2011 to July 2013.  In 2013, he was selected to serve as a Recruiting Officer at Recruiting Station Detroit, in Detroit, MI.  He was assigned the position of Executive Officer for the Recruiting Station from July 2013 to August 2016.  

In August 2016, LtCol Gangemella received orders to the Army Quartermaster School at Fort Lee, VA.  Here he served as a student in the Army Captain's Career Course where he graduated in February 2017.

LtCol Gangemella was then assigned to 1st Supply Battalion at Camp Pendleton, CA where he served as the unit's Executive Officer from March 2017 to June 2018.  He was promoted to Major in May 2017.  In June 2018 he was selected to serve as the logistics officer for Task Force Spartan where he deployed to Al Taqaddum, Iraq.  Upon his return, he served as the Operations Officer of Combat Logistics Regiment 15 from November 2019 to July 2020.

In July 2020, LtCol Gangemella received orders to the Marine Corps' Command and Staff College, at Quantico, VA.  Here he served as a student where he graduated in July 2021 with a Masters in Military Studies.
  
Ordered to the 12th Marine Corps Recruiting District in July 2021, LtCol Gangemella served as the District's Training Team Officer until his selection to Lieutenant Colonel.  He received orders to Western  Recruiting Region for June 2022 where he served as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Recruiting until July 2024.
 
In August 2024, he was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 17 where he served as the Executive Officer until his current assignment.

LtCol Gangemella's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4th award), Navy Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
