Brigadier General Ryan M. Hoyle
Brigadier General Ryan M. Hoyle graduated from
the University of Oklahoma’s Naval Reserve Officers
Training Corps program in 1996, earning a Bachelor
of Science degree in Health and Sports Sciences, and
was commissioned that same year.
He completed the Basic Officer Course, Infantry
Officer Course, and the Armor Captains Career
Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He holds a Master
of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic
Studies from the Naval Command and Staff College
and a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from
Haifa University while attending the Israeli National Defense College.
His command and operational assignments include Commanding Officer, 24th
Marine Expeditionary Unit; Commanding Officer, 2d Battalion, 3d Marines;
Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, I Marine Expeditionary Force; Current
Operations Officer, 3d Marine Division; G-3 Operations Officer, 1st Marine
Division; Operations Officer, 1st Marine Regiment; Dragoon and Huron
Company Commander; Assistant Operations Officer, 3d Light Armored
Reconnaissance Battalion; and Company Executive Officer, Weapons Platoon
Commander, and Rifle Platoon Commander, Lima Company, 3d Battalion, 7th
Marines. He assumed duties as the Assistant Division Commander on 12 June
2025.
His staff assignments include Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and G-39,
Marine Forces Europe and Africa; Aide de Camp to the Deputy Chairman of the
NATO Military Committee; Amphibious Staff Officer and Exercise Planner at
NATO Special Operations Headquarters; and Executive Officer and Operations
Officer, Recruiting Station Indianapolis.
Brigadier General Hoyle’s operational deployments include service in Italy,
Okinawa, Afghanistan, and Iraq, including command of Combined Task Force
61 in Naples, Italy.
