CAMP HANSEN, OKINAWA, Japan -- 12th MLR Receives Subordinate Logistics Element, CLB-12 Redesignates to 12th LLB
CAMP HANSEN, OKINAWA, Japan – Combat Logistics Battalion 12 redesignated to 12th Littoral Logistics Battalion (LLB) on October 3, 2024. 12th LLB’s redesignation signifies the next milestone for 12th Marine Littoral Regiment as 12th LLB is their first subordinate element. This redesignation highlights the enduring commitment of the U.S. to the defense of Japan and to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
“Today marks a significant milestone in 12th MLR’s continued evolution and one that reinforces the enduring commitment of the United States to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region,” said Col. Peter Eltringham, commanding officer of 12th Marine Littoral Regiment. “12th LLB provides logistics support specifically tailored to 12th MLR, integrates with logistics networks across the Marine Expeditionary Force, and enables the Regiment to establish and maintain expeditionary advanced bases in close cooperation with our Japanese allies.”
The LLB is trained, organized, and equipped to provide ground supply, medical support, general engineering, explosive ordinance disposal, and multi-modal transportation to support distributed forces in actively contested maritime spaces, integrated with allies, partners and the Joint Force.
“12th LLB enhances 12th MLR’s ability to sustain distributed forces and provide logistics support to rapidly respond to crises and contingencies in the Indo-Pacific region,” said Lt. Col. Leo Spaeder, commanding officer of 12th Littoral Logistics Battalion. “We’re proud to be the first Littoral Logistics Battalion in the First Island Chain.”
12th LLB’s redesignation is vital for sustaining 12th MLR by providing forward-deployed logistics support to ensure the regiment is prepared to effectively respond to a wide variety of operations, from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to full-spectrum military operations. The continued maturation of 12th MLR reinforces the Marine Corps’ commitment to regional security and stability.
