Marines gather at Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan, June 1, 2016, to hear Lt. Gen. Lawrence D. Nicholson speak about the 30-day period of unity and mourning that U.S. service members on Okinawa are observing after the recent tragic loss of an Okinawan woman. Nicholson formally set aside the 30-day period for service members throughout Okinawa to reflect on the tragedy, grieve and heal with the rest of the island community.
