Battle of Iwo Jima veterans are honored during the 79th Reunion of Honor CAMP
1 Apr 2024

CAMP COURTNEY, Okinawa, Japan – Distinguished guests from the U.S. and Japan gathered on Iwo Jima March 30, 2024 to pay tribute to one another and those lost during the battle of Iwo Jima.

The Reunion of Honor ceremony commemorates the Battle of Iwo Jima veterans, who fought for their respective countries, and celebrates the strength of our alliance. In the time since the battle, enemies have grown into allies, and together, became the cornerstone of security and stability in the region.

During the ceremony, U.S. and Japanese service members, and government leaders stood side-by-side as a symbol of unity and prosperity. The relationship between the United States and Japan over the last 79 years stands as a model of the power of reconciliation as the two countries work together to advance common interests and universal values in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
Photos, video packages, and video B-Roll from 79th Reunion of Honor are available for media use.
