Marines with 1st Marine Aircraft Wing and 3rd Marine Division completed a four-day Tactical Combat Casualty Care course using the Tactical Medical Simulation Center, a III Marine Expeditionary Force asset, on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, March 8, 2018. The course is designed to hone service-members’ critical thinking, tactical combat care skills and meet the diverse medical requirements needed while operating within the Pacific region. With a motto of “Eliminating preventable deaths on the battlefield,” the center provides the latest evidence-based combat medicine practices to as many Marines and Sailors as possible. Marines with Charlie Company, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, participate in exercise "White Viper", which consists of multiple cold-weather combat contingencies in Camp Fuji, Japan and Sendai, Japan, Jan. 22-Feb. 23, 2018. The Marines in Charlie Company learned cold weather survival as well as several new combat related training missions and operations. Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Ralph Bellamour, talks about basic life-saving skills taught at the Combat Lifesaver Course at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 1, 2017. Bellamour, from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is a tactical combat casualty care instructor with the Tactical Medical Simulation Center, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. Bellamour describes his experience as a first responder during the 2010 Haiti earthquake and how it influenced his decision to join the Navy.

Combat Lifesaver is a course designed to teach Marines how to save someone’s life in a combat environment. During the three-day class, Marines learn how to insert an intravenous (IV) device, apply tourniquets and regulate a person's respiratory system. The Marines are with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, which is a forward deployed unit from Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, to 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force based in Okinawa, Japan.
