Integrating with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit's Battalion Landing Team, soldiers with Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force conducted an amphibious raid exercise alongside their Company F., BLT 2/1 counterparts here in Guam. The training evolution was part of the JGSDF's integration period with the MEU during the Marines' Fall Patrol deployment throughout the Asia-Pacific region. III Marine Expeditionary Force commanding general and Joint Task Force 505 commander, Lt. Gen. Kenneth J. Glueck, visited the Japanese island of Oshima April 3, one of the hardest hit locations from a tsunami triggered by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake that struck 230 miles off the coast of Tokyo March 11.
