This training took place as part of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 16. CARAT 2016 is a nine-country, bilateral exercise series between the United States and Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Timor-Leste. Marines with 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment spent 5 months as a Forward Deployed Battalion in Okinawa, Japan, from March to August 2016. Three Marines from various companies within 2/2 give their take on their experience in Okinawa and other partner nations in the Pacific. While deployed as an FDB, the Marines with 2/2 were afforded the opportunity to work and train with six different partner nations.
