A CH-53E Super Stallion aircraft with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 465, a UH-1Y Venom aircraft with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267 and 3d Marine Logistics Group execute a Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel (TRAP) mission, recovering an AH-1Z Viper helicopter from W-174 Joint Okinawa Training Range Complex (JOTRC), Idesuna Jima, an uninhabited island off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 11, 2019. TRAP, a unique capability of the Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion, demonstrates 1st Marine Aircraft Wing's ability to provide a relevant, robust, and flexible capability when conducting personnel and aircraft recovery. U.S., Thai and Republic of Korea Marines participated in Jungle Survival training Feb. 8, 2016 in Latowan, Thailand. The Marines are part of exercise Cobra Gold 16. CG 16 is the 35th iteration of Cobra Gold which provides a joint and combined task force venue to maintain readiness, while emphasizing security and humanitarian cooperation in the Pacific .

Cpl. Connor Scott, from Long Island, New York, conducts a tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel exercise along side his working dog Bobo for Blue Chromite on Okinawa, Japan Oct. 28, 2015. The event was part of Blue Chromite 2016, which builds cohesion among elements of the Marine Air Ground Task Force. Blue Chromite is a large-scale, cost-effective on-island exercise led by 4th Marine Regiment. Each element of III Marine Expeditionary Force is represented in Blue Chromite. The training gave Marines with 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, Headquarters Company, K-9 Platoon a chance to have realistic recovery exercise.

The arresting equipment is a mechanical system used to rapidly decelerate an aircraft as it lands.
