Northern Edge is Alaska’s largest and premier joint training exercise designed to practice operations, techniques and procedures as well as enhance interoperability among the services. Thousands of participants from all the services—Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Coast Guard personnel from active duty, Reserve and National Guard units—are involved. Embassy Reinforcement: 31st MEU Marines reinforce simulated embassy

Marines with Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit conduct an embassy reinforcement and noncombatant evacuation exercise at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 5, 2020. Marines reinforced a simulated embassy, providing riot control and assisting with Department of State and noncombatant evacuation. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
