It's a Bird, It's a Plane... | 3rd MLG, 3rd MarDiv Team Up to Conduct MRZR Air Drop

Marines with 3rd Air Delivery Platoon, Landing Support Company, 3rd Transportation Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, conducted a cargo drop from a C-130 May 22, 2018, on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan. The Marines conducted air drop operations dropping a type-five platform, door bundles, free fall and static line jumpers, and the Polaris MRZR4-900 onto the island. 3rd MLG Marines worked alongside Marines with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division and Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 during the regularly scheduled training evolution to complete their first successful drop of a Polaris MRZR. Ronald Ramsey, a reconnaissance Marine with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, explains the hardships he encountered while undergoing the United States Marine Corps Combatant Diver Course and how it has helped him build a stronger bond with our Japanese allies on White Beach, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 16, 2019. "One hand pretty much washes the other," said Ramsey, a native of Westland, Michigan. "We help them and they are simultaneously helping us." Using the training he has received through the Marine Corps, Ramsey helped local Okinawans by diving into the ocean and conducting a site survey and verification of large rocks, which were causing damage to Japanese ships when entering the loading docks. Six instructors from the Navy Diving and Salvage Training Center, in Panama City, Florida, attempted to tear the Marines out of their comfort zone.
