Dozens of World War II veterans and veterans of the Battle of Iwo Jima took part in the 74th Reunion of Honor ceremony March 23, 2019 on Iwo To, Japan. Held annually, it is a testament to the strength of the U.S.-Japan Alliance, which has been the cornerstone of peace and security in the Indo-Pacific for over 60 years. Through this ceremony, we are able to understand the Security Alliance between Japan and U.S. was made from a lot of sacrifices. Also, we once again decide to make our bond even stronger for the sake of our region and international society. かつて熾烈に戦った日米だが、今、心の絆をしっかりつないでいきながら、かつてないほどの強固なつながりを持っているのであります。ここまで日本と米国が関係を強めてきた協力してくれた方々に感謝し、日米関係を強固にしていくことで国際社会の平和に貢献していきたい。 Japan and U.S had a severe battle before, but the connection between two countries are very strong now. I’d like to say thank you to all the people that made a contribution to strengthen our connection. We’d like to contribute to international peace through bilateral connection between Japan and U.S."
