U.S. Marines survive a night in the jungle during training with Royal Brunei Land Force members near Penanjong Garrison, Nov. 15, 2016. This training took place as part of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 16. CARAT 2016 is a nine-country, bilateral exercise series between the United States and Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Timor-Leste. This phase of CARAT focuses on partnerships between the forces of the US and Cambodia, and Brunei. As the premier naval engagement in South and Southeast Asia, CARAT provides a regional venue to address shared maritime security priorities, enhance interoperability among participation forces, and develop key relationships that will serve partner nations for many years to come. Landing support specialist Marines from Landing Support Detachment, 3rd Transportation Support Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force participated in helicopter support team training Friday, April 22, 2016. Five of the Marines were PFC's, fresh from their school house, doing their job for the first time in the fleet. The training consisted of hooking up a 7,000 lb. cement block to a CH-53E Super Stallion Helicopter.
