Paul Delekto talks about oleoresin capsicum, commonly known as pepper spray or OC, and its effects on Marines assigned to the security augment force on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, March 6, 2015. The Marines trained through an endurance course while ecposed to the spray in order to better understand the non-lethal weapon's effects on them and potential suspects it may be used on. Delekto is the staff noncommissioned officer in charge of the Mobile Training Team, Provost Marshal's Office, Marine Corps Installations Pacific- Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Japan and a Stone Mountain, Ga., Native.

3d Law Enforcement Battalion Deactivation

U.S. Marines with 3rd Law Enforcement (LE) Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group (III MIG), participate in the deactivation of the unit and pay tribute to their time while serving in 3rd LE on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 6, 2021. The deactivation of the battalion is the result of the Marine Corps shifting its focus to redesigning a more flexible and dynamic Fleet Marine Force with divestments in certain elements, including command elements like law enforcement. III MIG functions as the vanguard of III MEF, operating in the Indo-Pacific region’s information environment, and supports MAGTF operations with communications, intelligence, and supporting arms liaison capabilities. Marines with Headquarters Regiment, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, engage in an non-lethal weapons training course as a part of a security augmentation force (SAF) training event Oct. 11, 2018 on Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan. The SAF Marines practiced detainee handling procedures and non-lethal weapons tactics after being sprayed with oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray in order to learn how to effectively function and provide security while being affected by the spray.
