VMFA-214 and MWCS-18 collaborate with 3d MARDIV JTAC in CAS training

Marines with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 214, Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), Marine Wing Communications Squadron (MWCS) 18, MAG-12, 1st MAW, and Headquarters Battalion, 3d Marine Division, conduct various training with F-35B Lighting II aircraft during a deployment for training at Misawa Air Base, Japan, June 16 - 25, 2025. MWCS-18, a communications squadron from Camp Foster, Okinawa, and VMFA-214, an F-35B squadron from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona, deployed to augment MAG-12, 1st MAW, under the Unit Deployment Program, which provides U.S.-based units with operational experience in the Indo-Pacific. VMFA-214 and MWCS-18 conducted joint exercises that integrated the expertise of joint tactical air controllers at Draughon Range, Misawa Air Base. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Colin Thibault)
