U.S. Marine Gunner Chief Warrant Officer 5 Craig Marshall explains what it means to be a Marine Gunner. Marshall is the 3d Marine Division Gunner in Okinawa, Japan. Marine Gunners are non-technical chief warrant officers who are weapons specialists and knowledgeable in the tactical employment of all infantry weapons in the Marine Corps arsenal. Combat Lifesaver is a course designed to teach Marines how to save someone’s life in a combat environment. During the three-day class, Marines learn how to insert an intravenous (IV) device, apply tourniquets and regulate a person's respiratory system. The Marines are with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, which is a forward deployed unit from Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, to 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force based in Okinawa, Japan.
