U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Andrew Terrell, commanding officer of Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 1/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and Brig. Gen. Kyle Ellison, III Marine Expeditionary Force’s deputy commanding general, speak on the importance of maintaining a combat athlete mindset during the Savage Games on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, April 22, 2022. BLT 1/5 held the Savage Games in order to build unit cohesion and push the limits of the individuals in their command. The 31st MEU, The Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
