Marines with Q Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, conduct High Mobility Artillery Rocket System Rapid Infiltration training and showcase a live fire of the M142 HIMARS in Queensland Australia, during Exercise Talisman Sabre 19, July 6, 2019. HIMARS from the 3rd Marine Division provide the combined-join force with the unique capability of a mobile, transportable surface to surface missile system that can accurately deliver precision guided munitions to a variety of targets. Talisman Sabre 19 is a bilateral exercise that provides U.S. and Australian forces realistic and relevant training to strengthen regional security, peace and stability.

Marines, Airmen demonstrate expeditionary advanced basing capabilities at Ie Shima

U.S. Marines across 3d Marine Division, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, and Airmen with 1st Special Operations Squadron, demonstrate expeditionary advanced basing capabilities Oct. 7-8, 2020, as part of Exercise Noble Fury, from Okinawa to Ie Shima and across surrounding waters. Marines rapidly inserted via an air assault, secured an airfield, and established defensive positions around the island to enable follow-on operations in support of the navy including a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System Rapid Infiltration mission under the cover of darkness. This exercise showcased survivability and lethality of Navy and Marine Corps forces while operating in a distributed maritime environment. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Josue Marquez)

93 Years of Transformation

12th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division, celebrated its 93rd anniversary on Oct. 4, 2020. The regiment’s transformation in Marine Corps history includes service during China’s Boxer Rebellion, World War II, Vietnam, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and present day operations in support of regional security.
