Cpl. Trevor Cron keeps Marines and Sailors on the USNS Millinocket fed during their voyage to Cambodia, Oct. 28, 2016. Service members embarked on the USNS Millinocket were on their way to participate in Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 16. CARAT 2016 is a nine-country, bilateral exercise series between the United States and Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Timor-Leste. This phase of CARAT focuses on partnerships between the forces of the US and Cambodia, and Brunei. As the premier naval engagement in South and Southeast Asia, CARAT provides a regional venue to address shared maritime security priorities, enhance interoperability among participation forces, and develop key relationships that will serve partner nations for many years to come. Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit took off from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni April 19, and landed aboard the JS Hyuga (DDH 181) in order to load releif supplies for the residents of the island of Kyushu. The 31st MEU is the only continually forward-deployed MEU and remains the Marine Corps' force-in-readiness in the Asia-Pacific region. (U.S. Marine Corps Video by Sgt. Royce Dorman)
