Marines, Airmen demonstrate expeditionary advanced basing capabilities at Ie Shima

U.S. Marines across 3d Marine Division, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, and Airmen with 1st Special Operations Squadron, demonstrate expeditionary advanced basing capabilities Oct. 7-8, 2020, as part of Exercise Noble Fury, from Okinawa to Ie Shima and across surrounding waters. Marines rapidly inserted via an air assault, secured an airfield, and established defensive positions around the island to enable follow-on operations in support of the navy including a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System Rapid Infiltration mission under the cover of darkness. Para Ops training Ie Shima

U.S. Marines with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division conduct parachute operations by jumping out of a KC-130J Hercules and a UH-1N Huey on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 28 through Nov. 1, 2019. This combined training included Marines from 3rd Transportation Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, as well as support from Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 and Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 169, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. This military training ensures the Marines from III Marine Expeditionary Force are constantly trained and ready to provide aerial delivery of personnel or equipment wherever needed, quickly and effectively. Marines with 3rd Air Delivery Platoon, Landing Support Company, 3rd Transportation Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, conducted a cargo drop from a C-130 May 22, 2018, on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan. The Marines conducted air drop operations dropping a type-five platform, door bundles, free fall and static line jumpers, and the Polaris MRZR4-900 onto the island. 3rd MLG Marines worked alongside Marines with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division and Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 during the regularly scheduled training evolution to complete their first successful drop of a Polaris MRZR.
