Immediately following the massive earthquake and tsunami in Northern Japan, the U.S. military began planning to assist Japan's government in relief operations. Those plans were put to action shortly after, deploying nearly 1,000 service members to the disaster stricken area for Operation Tomodachi. Gunnery Sgt. J.L.
