Military working dogs are trained in searching techniques by using a combination of airborne and ground scent. They can be utilized to detect explosives in vehicles, open areas, enclosed spaces, cargo and buried explosives. Cpl. Andrea Mariani, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, is a dog handler with 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
