Marines and Sailors of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit flooded the flight deck of the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) for sunshine, music, games and food during a 4th of July celebration. Called a "Steel Beach Picnic," food service Marines and Sailors prepared more than 1,300 burgers, 800 pieces of barbecued chicken, and 800 hot dogs for the 31st MEU and ship's crew. U.S. Marines from 3rd Marine Logistics Group purified salt water Feb. 10 in Sattahip, Kingdom of Thailand, to provide clean water for Marinesto multination participants at various locations throughout Thailand during exercise Cobra Gold 2013. Water purification is essential to successful operations during the exercise. Cobra Gold, in its 32nd iteration, is a multinational exercise that promotes regional prosperity, security and cooperation among partner militaries.
