7th Communication Battalion will establish, maintain, and defend communication networks and services simultaneously for Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) command elements (CE), Marine component headquarters, and/or a Combined/Joint Task Force headquarters (C/JTF HQ) in order to facilitate a commander's ability to command and control forces.
PHILIPPINE SEA, (March 11, 2025) – As midnight approaches through the warship’s red-lit passageways and inside every busy berthing, the familiar anthem “We Ready” by Archie Evermore blares over the ship’s public address system or 1 Main Circuit (1MC). Capt. Tim Carter, commanding officer of the amphibious transport dock ship, USS San Diego (LPD-22), arrests the speaker system right on cue for his address. Meanwhile, choppy seas gift some sailors and Marines with glazed eyes, upset stomachs, and pounding headaches. Thankfully, the sea sickness is only temporary. Carter zealously declares to those onboard that the ship, its crew, and its embarked Marine Corps landing force is indeed ready for whatever may come as they transit the Indo-Pacific.

Stephanie Mafrici of Rotterdam, New York commissioned into the Marine Corps through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2007. Upon completing The Basic School and Basic Communications Officer Course, she began her career as a Communications Officer. Her fleet assignments include Platoon Commander, Company Operations Officer, and Company Executive Officer, Communications Company, 2d Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. She deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 9 to Al-Taqaddum, Iraq. She also served as Company Commander, Operations Officer, and Executive Officer, Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18 (MWCS-18), Okinawa, Japan. Her supporting establishment assignments include duties as Warfighting Instructor, Staff Platoon Commander (Company E and Company D), and S-6, The Basic School. She has also served as a Planner for Deputy Commandant, Information and Operations Officer for the Vandegrift Team. Her most recent assignment was Assistant Chief of Staff G-6 for Training and Education Command. Lieutenant Colonel Mafrici is a graduate of Advanced Communications Officer Course, US Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School, Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, US Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the US Secretary of Defense Strategic Thinkers Program at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
