Sergeant Major Erick R. Richburg

 

Sergeant Major Erick R. Richburg was born in Washington, DC. He completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC on November 17, 2000. Following completion of Marine Combat training, he attended the Enlisted Basic Warehousing Course at Camp Johnson, NC. Upon graduation he was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal. In March 2001, Sergeant Major Richburg reported to Ordinance Maintenance Company, 3rd Force Service Support Group, III Material Readiness Battalion, Okinawa, Japan. During his tour in Okinawa, Japan, he served with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Essex supporting humanitarian operations in East Timor, Thailand and the Philippines.


In April 2002, Sergeant Major Richburg reported to Marine Forces Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia. In December 2003, Sergeant Major Richburg reported to 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While there he deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III & IV. In July 2007, Sergeant Major
Richburg reported to Drill Instructor School at MCRD, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion of Drill Instructor School he was assigned to Companies "M" & "L", 3rd Recruit Training Battalion as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Chief Drill Instructor. During his tour he received a meritorious promotion to Staff Sergeant.


In October 2010, Sergeant Major Richburg reported to The Basic School at Quantico, Virginia. In May 2013, Sergeant Major Richburg was transferred to the Officers Candidate School to augment as a Sergeant Instructor. In October 2013, Sergeant Major Richburg reported to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan.


In November 2015, Sergeant Major Richburg returned to Camp Lejeune and reported to Combat Logistics Regiment 25 where he was selected to First Sergeant and subsequently received orders to the School of lnfantry-East. In February 2020, Sergeant Major Richburg received orders to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines and was assigned as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant. In April he was transferred to Weapons Company. He forward deployed with the battalion to Okinawa, Japan from October 2020 - April 2021.


In August 2021, Sergeant Major Richburg reported to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18 in Okinawa Japan. In March 2022, he was promoted to his current rank and reassigned to as the Battalion Sergeant Major for 3d Intelligence Battalion, 3d MIG, IIIMEF, Okinawa, Japan.


Sergeant Major Richburg's personnel decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (w/ one silver star) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (w/ two gold stars).
