Lieutenant Colonel Clint alanis

LtCol Clint Alanis is a native of Texas.  Upon graduation in 2003 he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant.  In June 2003 he reported for training at The Basic School, and, in December 2003, subsequently reported to the Infantry Officer Course.  In April 2004 he reported for duty with 3d Battalion, 5th Marines where he was assigned as a Rifle Platoon Commander.  Over the course of his tour he additionally served as a Weapons Platoon Commander, Rifle Company Executive Officer, and Weapons Company Executive Officer.

In 2007, LtCol Alanis was assigned to Weapons Training Battalion, Quantico, where he served as the Assistant Operations Officer, the Small Arms Weapons Instructor School OIC, and the Schools Company Commander.  As the Small Arms Weapons Instructor School OIC he managed the High Risk Personnel and Foreign Weapons Instructor courses.  When assigned the additional duties of Schools Company Commander he acquired the management of the Scout Sniper Instructor School and the Dynamic Entry School.

In February 2009 LtCol Alanis attended the Assessment and Selection screener for duties within Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command.  Later that year he was assigned to 2d Marine Special Operations Battalion.  During his time in the battalion LtCol Alanis deployed twice as a Marine Special Operations Team Commander,  and once as the Company Commander, Marine Special Operations Company F. 

In July 2015 LtCol Alanis was assigned as U.S. SOCOM’s Special Operations Liaison Officer to the Nordic region, serving as a member of the U.S. Country Team at Embassy Oslo, Norway, and advising the Special Operations Commands of Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland.

Upon his return to the United States in 2018 LtCol Alanis returned to MARSOC, serving as the Executive Officer of 3d Marine Raider Battalion, Operations Officer of the Marine Raider Regiment, and as the J3 Director of Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.

LtCol Alanis assumed command of 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company on 18 June, 2021.

LtCol Alanis’ personal decorations include the Bronze Star with Combat Distinguishing Device (x2), the Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy / Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, the Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device, and the Combat Action Ribbon (x2).
