Sergeant Major junior E. Diaz
Sergeant Major Junior E. Diaz is a native of the Dominican Republic. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 21 April 2003. He reported to Parris Island on 21 May 2003. Upon completion of Recruit Training and Marine Combat Training, he was assigned to Motor Transport Instruction School, Fort Leonard Wood, MO for training as a motor vehicle operator and graduated as an Logistics Vehicle Systems (LVS) Operator in December 2003.
In January 2004, Sergeant Major Diaz was assigned to Headquarters, Combat Logistics Battalion 1, 1st Force Service Support Group, where he served as a LVS Operator, Line Non-Commissioned Officer, and Quality Control Non-commissioned Officer. He was promoted to Lance Corporal, Corporal, and Sergeant during this tour of duty and deployed three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sergeant Major Diaz reported to Drill Instructor School at Parris Island, NC in January of 2008. He then reported to Company M, 3d Recruit Training Battalion, where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Operations Chief for Company M. Sergeant Major Diaz was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant during this tour.
In March of 2011, Sergeant Major Diaz was assigned to Headquarters Detachment, Marine Air Control Squadron 4 (MACS-4), Marine Air Control Group 18. During this tour he served as Motor Transport Operations Chief, Motor Transport Chief, and Motor Transport/Utility Section Staff Non-Commissioned Officer-in-Charge. Additionally, Sergeant Major Diaz was deployed as an individual augment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he served as the Redeployment and Retrograde in support of Reset and Reconstitution Operations Group (R4OG), Motor Transport Chief. Additionally, he graduated as the "Gung Ho" for the Advance Course and the Martial Arts Instructor Trainer Courses and was meritoriously promoted to Gunnery Sergeant during this tour of duty.
In January of 2015, Sergeant Major Diaz was assigned to Marine Corps Logistics Operations Group (MCLOG), Twenty-nine Palms, CA During this tour, he served as the Warfighting, Doctrine, and the Expeditionary Logistics department SNCOIC. Additionally, Sergeant Major Diaz served as an exercise developer and logistic systems instructor. He was selected to the rank of First Sergeant during this tour.
In June of 2017, Sergeant Major Diaz was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 3 (CLB-3), Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, HI where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Engineer Services Company, and as the Combat Logistics Detachment 335 Senior Enlisted Advisor at Pohakuloa Training Area, HI. In November 2018, he was transferred to Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Headquarters Battalion, where he served as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant.
In November of 2018, Sergeant Major executed orders to 2d Battalion, 3d Marines where he served as the Weapons Company First Sergeant. During this tour, Sergeant Major Diaz deployed with Weapons Company in support of the Unit Deployment Program, which included exercises in Hokkaido, Japan.
Sergeant Major Diaz was promoted to his current rank in May of 2021 and assumed duties as the 3d Transportation Battalion, Sergeant Major 1 June 2021. In December 2022, Sergeant Major Diaz reported to 5th Naval Liaison Company, 1II MEF Information Group where he is currently serving as the Battalion Sergeant Major.
Sergeant Major Diaz's personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
