While out for a walk, 1st Lt. John C. Dixon IV and his wife came across the local police requesting their assistance in making out shouts from the ocean at Sunabe Seawall, Okinawa, Japan, November 24, 2017. After listening they were able to hear people shouting help. Dixon waded out into the water with a life preserver and rescued one local Okinawan, three American college exchange students and one local police officer. Dixon is the network operations officer, G-6, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Jessica Etheridge)

Marines save life on Mt. Fuji

U.S. Marine Cpls. Otto Thiele, Eric Goodman, and Christopher Ehms and Lance Cpls. Antonio Martinez and Avelardo Guevara Osuna came together to assist a local Japanese woman during their hike on Mt. Fuji, Japan, July 3, 2017. The woman, Oda Moe, was found lying on the ground and hyperventilating when the Marines came to her assistance. Together, they created a makeshift stretcher to carry her down the mountain, approximately two miles, to get medical assistance at a police station. The Marines are with Electronics Maintenance Company, 3rd Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.

Cpl. Daniel J. Benjamin tells his story of saving a tourists' life. On Aug. 31, Paula Genova was riding her bike when she lost control and was struck in the head by a tree branch. While losing a significant amount of blood and screaming for help, Benjamin came to her aid by taking her straight to the hospital.
