Alpha Company was given the name Red Death in 1981 by the commandant of the Marine Corps; in 2015 the first Red Death Challenge was held to honor the fallen members of Alpha Company. Six instructors from the Navy Diving and Salvage Training Center, in Panama City, Florida, attempted to tear the Marines out of their comfort zone.
